20 injured in Fruit Mandi twin blasts

LAHORE, Aug 1 (APP): At least 20 persons received injuries in low-intesity twin blasts at Fruit Mandi Badami Bagh area here on Wednesday night.Accroding to Rescue 1122 sources, all injured were male, three of them were in critical condition.Police said that one bomb was planted in a garbage heap while the other was placed under a vendor-cart at the gate of Fruit Market. Nothing could be ascertained whether the explosions were triggered time-devices or a remote control device.Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Habib ur Rehman, during his visit to the blast-site, attributed the twin blasts to the arrest of a high-value terrorist in Multan early Wednesday morning. The police had already been put on the high alert in anticipation of such a reaction, he added.The IGP said that the morale of police was high and it would defeat all anti-state elements.During his visit at the blasts site, DCO Lahore Noor ul Amin Mengal said that the security arrangements were satisfactory in the Fruit Market.
