KARACHI: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has disqualified Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani from holding his execuitive office, the media reported on Tuesday. The court has also disqualified the prime minister as an MNA.

Speaker Ruling Case declared Gilani disqualified from holding his post as prime minister.

According to the apex court the prime minister stands disqualified since he was awarded a 30 second sentence on April 26 for failing to comply with the court's orders of writing a letter to the Swiss authorities in President Zardari's graft case.

The verdict states that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) should issue a disqualification notice in this regard, and added further that the president should find a replacement to maintain the process of democracy.

The verdict further states that the Speaker of the National Assembly cannot impose their decision over the verdict of the Supreme Court.
